I am a painter inspired by the nature around me, creating stylized realist interpretations rather than photographic reproductions. Through bright, bold color and simplified forms, I reduce flowers and natural elements to their most fundamental shapes and light, using oil paints for their richness and versatility. My work celebrates the beauty, uniqueness, and simplicity of nature, offering a sense of calm, joy, and peace in an often overwhelming world. I paint in color combinations that move me, with the hope that my interpretations will evoke the same feeling in others.

MEET LYNN SALAETS
Lynn Salaets, a local artist who has worked in the following mediums, pencil and charcoal sketching, pastels, acrylic paints as well as oil paints.
As a child, the artist was always drawing on scrapes of paper. Her interest in painting started in High School where she took private art lessons from a local artist and completed her first two oil paintings. In high school, she was a member Anaheim High School art club. She graduated from Fullerton Jr. College with an Associated Arts degree with a major in History and a minor in Art. She received a BA in history from C.S.U.F. and went on to receive a General Education Credential, a Special Education Credential, a Resource Specialist Certification, and a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities from C.S.U.F. She went on to teach school for 31 years in the Lynwood Unified School District. Her students had from mild to severe reading disabilities so she often used her art to illustrate concepts and words. Her Special Day Class students were invited to display their art in the Los Angeles Special Olympics. She found art was a way to instill confidence in her student.
Her paintings are a type of stylized realism. She primarily paints nature, such as landscapes, seascapes, flowers and plants. Her paintings use bright and bold colors. When painting landscapes and seascapes she utilizes color to create dark moody skies. The artist’s work would be considered a stylized representation of nature rather than a photographic realism. The artist considers each canvas as a learning experience, with the painting process as important as the finished piece. She often makes changes during the artistic process. This is why she prefers to work in oil paints, due to their flexibility. Her artistic process varies depending on the subject matter .She often uses photographs as inspiration as well as her sketches of actual flowers.
The artist views art as a universal language that transcends all boundaries. It is a visual language that can reach out to everyone. Art is unique because it allows each person who views it to form their own interpretations. The artist’s goal is to create work that simplifies nature and uses vibrant colors to honor the beauty of nature.
The artist is proud of the way she utilized art as a tool to teach learning disabled students academics. She also assisted other teachers in designing classrooms that use art, and color to teach concepts in an enjoyable and not threating way. She has displayed and sold work at a local craft fair.
Recent and Up Coming Projects: She is excited to be creating a series of painting featuring different types of flowers.
