Lynn Salaets is a local artist from Orange County Calif. She has worked in the following mediums, pencil and charcoal sketching, pastels, acrylic paints, and oil paints.

Her interest in art started in High School when she took private art lessons from a local artist. She was a member of the art club at Anaheim High School. She graduated from Fullerton Jr. College with an Associated Arts degree with a major in History and a minor in Art. The artist received a BA in history from C.S.U.F. and went on to receive a General Education Teaching Credential, a Special Education Credential, a Resource Specialist Certification, and a Master’s Degree in Learning Disability from C.S.U.F. She taught school for 31 years in the Lynwood Unified School District. Her students had from mild to severe learning disabilities. She often used her art to illustrate concepts and words. Her Special Day Class students were invited to display their art in the Los Angeles Special Olympics. The artist found art was a way to instill confidence in her students.

Her paintings are a type of stylized realism, with the subject matter primarily being nature. She paints landscapes, seascapes, flowers and plants, with bright and bold colors. Her landscapes and seascapes feature dark moody skies. Her interpretation of nature includes basic shapes and lines with vibrant colors. She emphasizes the simple basic beauty of nature. The artist approaches each work as a learning process.

The artist is proud of the way she utilized art as a tool to teach learning disabled students academics and self-esteem. She also assisted other teachers in designing classrooms that use art, and color to teach concepts in an enjoyable and not threating way. She has displayed and sold work at a local craft fair.
Recent and Up Coming Projects: The artist is excited to be creating a series of paintings featuring different types of flowers.
